SOUTH GEORGIA CELEBRATES POSESSOPN DAY

The 218th anniversary of Captain Cook’s possession of the South Atlantic Island of south Georgia for King George III was commemorated at Government House on Monday, 20 January 2014. In his remarks Mr Nigel Haywood thanked the people and organisations that have contributed to the Island over the years. He mentioned the various wildlife projects such as Rat Eradication.

Members of the South Georgia heritage Trust as well as South Georgia Government Officers and the Military attended the reception.
