Falklands : Falklands: SECRETARIAT FLAGPOLE REPLACED
Submitted by Falkland Islands News Network (Juanita Brock) 31.03.2014 (Article Archived on 05.05.2014)

SECRETARIAT FLAGPOLE

Members of the public may have noticed that there is currently no flag flying outside the Secretariat. On Monday 10th March, the flagpole’s rope broke and the flag was jammed at the top of the pole until the Public Works Department were able to remove it on Tuesday 11th March.

Rather than repair the damaged flagpole, it was decided that replacing it with a brand new flagpole (of the same style as the flagpole outside Gilbert House) was a better option in the long term.
The Public Works Department have indicated that this could take up to four weeks to complete, and every effort will be made to complete this project and have the new flagpole in position in time for the Queen’s Birthday Parade in April.
