ARGENTINE BULLIES PROTEST AGAINST FALKLANDS BOUND CRUISE SHIPS

By J. Brock (FINN)

Britain last night condemned the bullying by Argentine activists after flag burning crowds at the gate to the dock in Buenos Aires where luxury cruise ships prepared to sail to the Falklands. The Star Princess flies the Bermudan flag and the Seabourn Sojourn, has a Bahamian flag but the protest happened because both ships were sailing to the Falklands.

Many British passengers, some of whom are elderly, heard verbal abuse and saw flag burnings outside the pier where the vsssels were berthed.

Foreign Office Ministers in the UK condemned the unprecedented wave of bullying and called on militants to “allow cruise ships to travel without threats or hindrance.”

“We condemn unequivocally any efforts to intimidate companies from pursuing their lawful business,” said Hugo Swire, the Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs minister.

The row continued after The Sun published its own letter, urging on the Argentine government to give up its claims to the islands; and the Argentine government refused to condemn the attacks but denied being behind the protests.

The Patriotic Resistance Movement, led the protest.
