Falklands : PANAMA DELEGATION VISITS THE FALKLANDS THIS WEEK

A five-person delegation from Panama is visiting the Falklands from 14 to 21 September 2013. Included in the delegation are Dalia Bernal, head of National Assembly Committee for Foreign Affairs, Yanibel Abrego, Head of National Assembly Committee for Education, Culture and Sport, Jorge Gantes, Legal Advisor for Foreign Affairs Committee of national Assembly, Renual Dominguez MP, Member of the PRD Opposition Party and Javier Robaya, interpreter.





PANAMA DELEGATION VISITS THE FALKLANDS THIS
WEEK

A five-person delegation from
Panama is visiting the Falklands from 14 to 21 September 2013.  Included in the delegation are Dalia Bernal,
head of National Assembly Committee for Foreign Affairs, Yanibel Abrego, Head
of National Assembly Committee for Education, Culture and Sport, Jorge Gantes,
Legal Advisor for Foreign Affairs Committee of national Assembly, Renual
Dominguez MP, Member of the PRD Opposition Party and Javier Robaya,
interpreter.



 



Arriving on Saturday, 14
September, the delegation was met by an MLA in the Commanderís lounge at MPC
and at the Malvina House Hotel by Mrs Claudette Prior.  Dinner with MLA Dick and Mrs Judith Sawle and
MLA Dr Barry Elsby was held in the Malvina House Hotel.  On Sunday after breakfast the delegation flew
to Sea Lion Island where they went on a wildlife tour and stayed overnight.



 



Today it is expected that the
delegation will return from Sea Lion Island to take a leisurely walking tour of
Stanley and visit the shops, etc.  H. E.
the Governor Mr Haywood will host a dinner for the delegation on Monday
evening.



 



On Tuesday the delegation will
meet Members of Legislative Assembly at Gilbert House and attend a government
briefing in the Liberation Room of the Secretariat where the Chief Executive,
Mr Keith Padgett will conduct the briefing along with other government
officers.  In the afternoon they will
visit the Museum and Cartmell Cottage.



 



The press will have a chance to
interview the delegation on Wednesday morning before they meet with Mr Tony
Mason, General Manager of Falkland Islands Tourism, at the Jetty Centre.  On Wednesday afternoon the delegation will
visit the Kidney Island Nature Reserve. 
On Wednesday evening they will attend a reception at Government House
for Chilean Independence Day and a late private Chilean Independence Day party
at the Narrows hosted by Claudia Rosas and her partner.



 



Visits to the South Atlantic
Environmental Research Institute and Dr Paul Brickle, the Education Department
and Head Teacher, Martin Winward will take place on Thursday morning, with
stops at the Department of Health to see Hilary Rowland and Jeanette Vincent
and the Natural Resources Department and Dr John Barton in the afternoon.  In the evening a reception will be held at
the Falkland Islands Chamber of Commerce.



 



Friday, the last full day, will be
spent at Mount pleasant Complex where the Military will give them a tour and a
briefing and at the Blue Beach Cemetery at San Carlos with a visit to the home
of MLA Sharon and Mr John Halford.  This
will be followed by a trip to the Darwin Cemetery and Goose Green.



 



The delegation will depart the
Falklands on next Saturdayís Lan Flight.
