A long-line vessel, Insung 22, licensed to fish in South Georgia waters has sustained a fire on Tuesday, 16 June 2009 at lunchtime and the Government of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands (SGSSI) was notified at approximately 1400hrs LMT.

6: Falklands Busk Raises £218 for Musequality - Falklands (Heritage) - 18.06.2009

Thanks to students from the Falkland Islands Community School, the Dog Handling Section at MPC, Police Chief Paul Elliott and the Band of the Royal Logistical Corps, the grand total of £218.00 was raised in aid of Musequality, a UK-based charity, funds communal music projects for some of the poorest children in the developing world. 7: Young Falklands' Drivers Face Off Road Challenge - Falklands (Heritage) - 18.06.2009

Last week saw service personnel taking to the roads in their Landrovers and demonstrating some excellent driving at Mount Pleasant Complex (MPC) during a “Young Drivers’ Challenge”. The competition aimed to practice and enhance the driving skills of drivers in order to promote and improve road safety within the Falkland Islands especially those within the 17 – 25 year age group. According to the Royal Falkland Islands Police at 3.45pm Friday 12th June an accident occurred on Ross Road near to its junction with Villiers Street where Master Ashley Reeves aged 9 years, stepped off the footpath straight into the path of a RFIP Land Rover 90 being driven by Sgt Tom Whistler.

A number of papers considered at the May meeting of Executive Council were budget matters that were referred directly to the Legislative Assembly and the budget Select Committee. Such papers included the Draft Estimates and Finance Bill, a draft budget for FIMCo, as well as a review of the donations and subventions budget and proposals for increases to Registry and Immigration fees.
